Ginger Buckley

Ginger BuckleyGinger Buckley was born in 1949, to Mary and Peter Wright of Bank Street in Greenwich Village. When she was nine months old, her father drove the family north, in search of a more appropriate place to raise a family. They settled in Rhinebeck, NY, a lovely village on the Hudson River surrounded by acres of forest, streams and lakes.

Ginger played a big role in rearing her five younger siblings, so much so that by the age of 12 she knew she wanted to be a ‘free woman’ and not a mother! She was raised Catholic and attended Catholic schools so religion, prayer and spirituality were important in her early years. Nature was another one of her teachers. In the midst of the chaos inherent in a large family, she found peace by spending time reflecting in nature’s calm.

From a young age, Ginger’s father encouraged her to be self-reliant and a free thinker, and her mother, by example, taught her to love nature and spirituality. This combination instilled in Ginger a quest for truth, freedom and adventure! Many times in her life she would surrender comfort for quest, venturing out from the known to travel towards the unknown.

After graduating from college, Ginger taught elementary school, got married and earned her graduate degree. Then she left for India to follow a spiritual path. She first heard of the Hoffman Process in a most unlikely time and place. While entering the gates of an ashram in India, she met fellow New Yorkers, and when she asked what they did, they said they were Hoffman teachers!

Another of Ginger’s adventures took root when she returned to the “world” after many years of ashram living. She met her husband Cheshta in 1984, and after buying a home in Marin County, California, they were called to join friends for a Trans-Pacific cruise on their 38-foot sloop, the “Wendy Ann.” Setting sail in 1990, they cruised through the small islands of the Pacific for more than two years, covering 8,000 (often terrifying) miles.

After returning from their sail, first Cheshta, then Ginger did the Process. In 2000 Ginger was certified as a Process teacher and it was an answer to her prayers: finding fulfilling and meaningful work was part of her life-long vision.

Continuing on her quest, Ginger recently graduated from the Claritas Institute of Inter-spiritual Mentoring and Inquiry, started by Joan Borysenko (who Ginger lovingly calls her “soul sister”), Joan’s husband Gordie, and Janet Quinn. “The Claritas Program helped me deepen my spiritual practice, improve my listening skills, and connected me to a community dedicated to bringing deep peace to the planet by way of spiritual guidance and mentoring.” Ginger now serves as both a Process teacher and a spiritual mentor to those who are called to deepen their spiritual connection.

Ginger and Cheshta make their home on Cape Cod, closer to her family. While there, she bird watches, sails, swims and basks in the mystery, beauty and natural peace of the island.
