HQP Teacher Profile
Devi Razo
When asked why she chose to become a Process teacher, Devi smiled
widely and replied, “I didn’t choose it, it chose me!
I felt called, and I knew from the time I did my Process that I
would become a teacher.”
Devi spent much of her childhood in Portland, Oregon with her mother,
who was a single parent. When asked about her childhood, she said,
“My mom worked a lot, so I grew up being self-reliant —
knowing how to get things done on my own. I also learned the importance
of making friends and creating deep connections.”
Devi studied psychology at Prescott College in a degree program
based on “experiential education,” in which she was
exposed to the principles of multiple intelligences and was an active
participant in the learning process. Through this hands-on program,
Devi discovered her passion for learning and teaching, which led
to her early work as a family counselor and addictions educator.
After hearing about it from a friend, Devi completed the Process
in 1998. “Despite the fact that I felt passionate about my
work and was living a life that looked wonderful on the outside,
there was a deep sadness in me, and a distinct lack of joy and freedom.
At the Process I discovered a profound connection to my own life
force, and my own joy. I’ve never been the same since.”
Devi credits the concentrated growth and insight she experienced
in the year following the Process to her use of the Process tools.
One of her great joys today is working with Process graduates to
put the tools to work in their own lives.
Devi was certified to teach the Process in 2000. From 2001–2003,
she and her husband, Raul, lived in France and England, while she
taught the Process in Ireland, England, and South Africa, and trained
teachers for Hoffman UK.
Recently, Devi was selected to lead the Hoffman Institute’s
U.S. Teacher Training Program, which is a true passion of hers.
The teacher training work involves creating and implementing a curriculum
that supports and nurtures all aspects of a Process teacher’s
learning and growth. There are eight Process graduates currently
participating in teacher training — they will be certified
and ready to teach the Process between the summer of 2008 and the
spring of 2009, bringing new vitality to the Hoffman Institute and
its offerings.
In their spare time, Devi and Raul, a very talented bronze sculptor
from Mexico City, enjoy renovating old houses. They currently live
in Arizona but will soon relocate to Northern California. Devi says
that renovating a house and taking dance lessons together with her
husband are the true tests of a marriage! |
