“It is possible to change. You don’t have to repeat all of those patterns. …You’re going to be happy, and it’s okay to be happy.” – Lecia King

Lecia King Headshot Hoffman Podcast

During the Hoffman Process, therapist Lecia King found herself feeling settled, and learning that this ‘settledness’ is a quality of being of her Spiritual Self. Through the power of the Process, Lecia began to transform the pain of her past into a deep-seated connection to who she really is.

Years later, now both a seasoned therapist and Hoffman Process teacher, this settledness is omnipresent in Lecia’s life as she lives more and more from her Spiritual Self. You’ll feel and hear it in this conversation with host Sadie. You’ll also sense a quiet joy in Lecia.

Challenge and change run through Lecia’s life story. She experienced a “very chaotic upbringing.” She realized early on that she would have to create a stable life for herself as an adult. Lecia grieved for the child within her that never knew stability. And her adult self has done just that: created a stable life. In her twenties, Lecia bought her first home, determined never to be uprooted from home again. She did healing work around her eating disorders and past family dysfunction. She found healing in a women’s nature circle where she spent time fasting and in nature.

Lecia’s life story reflects a quiet persistence as she moved into adulthood and motherhood, and now moves into an empty nest filled with joy. It is inspirational to witness someone who has met life’s challenges and, through them, come to know and love herself. In teaching the Hoffman Process, Lecia now holds space for others to transform and create lasting change in their lives. In sharing her story here, Lecia offers us an existential possibility of hope and joy. We can transform the pain of our past into a life lived as who we really are. We get to be happy.

We hope you savor this inspiring conversation with Lecia and Sadie.

More about Lecia King:

Lecia King Hoffman PodcastLecia King began her Hoffman journey as a student in 2018. Wanting more of her new quality of Being (Spiritual Self), she was tempted to apply to become a teacher immediately after completing her Process. But with a full-time job and two kids to raise, it didn’t seem feasible. Instead, she applied for a sabbatical and spent the time interning at Hoffman, focusing on bringing the work to therapists. During this time, she realized she needed to commit to Hoffman teacher training to embody the work and bring it to others.

Lecia now works half-time as a Hoffman teacher and coach and half-time as a therapist in the student health center at a local community college. She brings 30 years of social work experience, including serving as the director for a shelter and transitional housing program for battered women and their children, and as the executive and clinical director for a non-profit serving women and teens with eating issues.

Lecia has provided social work services for an inpatient psychiatric unit, and co-created the first social work program in Romania after the fall of the communist regime. She has worked at the community college for 14 years, where she deeply appreciates the hugely diverse student population, the wide variety of issues people struggle with, and the ability to serve people regardless of their resources or ability to pay.

Whether providing therapy to students or teaching/coaching Hoffman students, Lecia is interested in others’ experiences facilitating growth, learning, and well-being. She brings compassion, empathy, creativity, enthusiasm, and care to her work and her life. Lecia lives in the North San Francisco Bay Area. She loves to hike, spend time with family and friends, and BE, preferably in nature.
