The Dark Side is no match for All that I Am.

By Julie Daley

“To attain true inner freedom, you must be able to objectively watch your problems instead of being lost in them. Once you’ve made the commitment to free yourself of the scared person inside, you will notice that there is a clear decision point at which your growth takes place.”
– Michael A. Singer

Friday morning, exactly 17 years to the day from the final Friday of my Process, promised a warm sunny day ahead. I pulled into White Sulphur Springs just after 9 am, arriving by way of Calistoga Road’s long, steady grade up and steep, fast-moving descent down into the Napa Valley – a journey that would come to mirror my time at the Hoffman Q2: Beyond Mom and Dad.

THE DARK SIDE IS NO MATCH FOR ALL THAT I AM

I was a bit nervous and a lot excited. I felt this sense of possibility, which would soon be followed by a very real feeling of hope once we were into the work. I’d had my pre-call with my Q2 teacher which laid the groundwork for the work ahead. The call was powerful and I was READY. At this point, I didn’t yet realize how lost I had been in my Dark Side over the past decade. My Dark Side has a way of sitting on me like a ton of bricks. Under the bricks, it’s hard to objectively get a handle on what’s really going on. It’s easier to believe you ARE your Dark Side rather than remembering you HAVE patterns.

At breakfast just before the Dark Side work, I realized it was time to draw a line in the sand. I went into the Dark Side experience with a firm and clear intention that I would no longer fight the Dark Side. Fighting it is neither productive nor beneficial.

THE POWER OF SPIRIT IN THE FACE OF NEGATIVITY

The Dark Side is no match for All that I Am

As I met my Dark Side, I sat grounded in my powerful Quadrinity and I called in the Light and Love of Spirit. I felt the power that comes when I embody all that I am – ALL that I Am. I stayed steady for the whole encounter, feeling the strength, power, and resilience that I Am. I directly realized the power and strength of Spirit in the face of the Dark Side’s negativity.

The Dark Side is nothing compared to the Light and Love that I Am.

Later that day, we worked with compassion and forgiveness, the third station in the cycle of transformation. I came to see it’s possible to let go of the pain of the past – even deeply held pain from early childhood. In an exercise with another student, I, once again, called in my Quadrinity and Spirit Guide to guide me to sit in great compassion. I could set aside my own suffering in order to “be with” my fellow student’s suffering. I felt the power of the Light and Love within. I understood that pain and suffering can be released. Here, I was able to speak clearly from this understanding. When it was my turn to receive, knowing this is possible, I let go of pain and suffering that I’ve held onto since I was a very young girl.

HONOR AND DIGNIFY YOUR TRUE NATURE

The Q2 offers an opportunity to transform how we are with ourselves and how we are with each other. The practices of self-compassion and self-forgiveness are key to undoing negative love programming and opening our hearts to the world. Even after forgiving mom and dad, we often still hold ourselves in the bondage and pain of negative love. Self compassion and forgiveness for our failures and inadequacies is one way to realize we are, indeed, human. We can take more risks, try new things, and reach out to others we’ve harmed and ask for forgiveness.

Perhaps what brings us the greatest peace is to finally stop trying to fix ourselves. It is here we can, instead, honor and dignify the vast creative and loving potential that is our true nature.

      Hi, Nancy!

I feel that way, too. Remembering we share this thing called being human helps me soften into it and soften into my relationships with others. So good to see you here.
